Allison Brooks Janney is an American actress who was born November 19, 1959. Through her thirty years, Allison Brooks Janney has earned acclaim for both stage and film performances. Janney has received several awards, among them the Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. The seven Primetime Emmy Awards were also given to her. There were also nominations in two Tony Awards. Janney came from Boston and was raised close to Dayton near Dayton, Ohio. She was awarded a scholarship to study in The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art following her graduation from Kenyon College. Janney became a television star in 1999 with the character C. J. Cregg who played the character in NBC's drama series The West Wing (1999 to 2006) which won her 4 Primetime Emmy Awards. Janney was awarded an award called the Primetime Emmy Award for 2014 Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, after her performance as Margaret Scully on the Showtime show Masters of Sex. Janney has been recognized for six Primetime Emmy Awards, and she was awarded twice for the Outstanding Supporting Actress in Comedy Series.
